Is this a cure for dyslexia?
There is no one universal set of symptoms for dyslexia but rather a set of variables. These interventions will address some but there may be other problems that are uncovered which are not addressed. However since there is not a universal set of symptoms, and even the symptoms known may come from a variety of sources, I do not see any intervention as being the whole answer. (An article by Patricia Mullan in the BATOD magazine shows that after using the Primary Movement programme with hearing and deaf dyslexic children she felt that Primary Movement should be included as part of any attempt to look at the causes or remediation concerning dyslexic children.)
How do we know that you are trained to intervene?
I've put my CV on the site and given web site addresses for movement and listening. Their sites may not be up to date but if you contact them you should be able to confirm my training details. You can see my dissertation on a shelf at Nottingham University or confirm that it is there.
What sort of children have benefited?
I've had dyslexics who have caught up to achieve at their level of the ability.
A dyspraxic child came because he desperately wanted to ride his bike with his friends. He did that and his writing and spelling improved too.
Behaviour has improved for the autistic and ADHD children I've seen.
Some of the children are diagnosed by schools but a lot are not and parents bring them because they know there is a problem and can't wait for the system because the distress causes the child to suffer.
Can you guarantee results?
Never work with animals or children if you want that. There is always the possibility of the unexpected.
It is impossible to answer all the questions that might arise. If you have further questions contact me.
